Thank you to all the Residents from Rancho Dorado who attended the meeting March 19, 2018 with SDG&E regarding the proposed power lines, project TL6975.
At the meeting, SDG&E explained the need for the new power poles. The existing poles run to another substation which feeds electricity to the west. The proposed new poles would run to a separate substation which will feed electricity to the east. The project was proposed in response to an electrical load planning study which showed vulnerabilities under contingency conditions which do not meet the standards set forth by the North American Reliability Corporation. A copy of the power point used to present this information can be obtained by clicking here.
In November of 2017, SDG&E filed an application with the California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”) for the installation of new poles to run power from the Escondido substation to a San Marcos substation. The proposed plan would include the installation of additional power poles, adjacent to the existing power poles.
The application was deemed complete as of March 16, 2018 by the CPUC. Once a completed application is submitted, the CPUC will conduct an environmental study on the proposed project. Part of this review process by the CPUC will involve public comment; therefore, all homeowners will have the opportunity to comment and voice concerns directly to the CPUC.
