The City of San Marcos held a community meeting on January 26, 2017 to discuss and answer any community concerns regarding the proposed new Meadowlark community (reference website news 1/23/17 for more info). Residents that attending the meeting have provided the following information regarding the proposed development:

- Meadowlark is a new residential development which was approved back in 2004. It is not part of the Laurels community but rather it's own independent community.
- The area within Rancho Dorado that will be most affected will be La Fuente (East Side) as the new community will be built directly on the other side of La Fuente.
- The City of San Marcos is waiting for the final plans from the developer, but there was mention that this development may start construction as early as March but likely will take longer pending the City's final review.
- There will likely be a direct noise and dust impact to the La Fuente community.
